Seasol – Heat and Drought Stress

Episode: 7
Title: Seasol – Heat and Drought Stress
Broadcast: 17th October 2015
Presenter: Kim Syrus

Summer is just around the corner and so are some scorching days, it’s time to start preparing your plants for the hot days to come.

  • Avoid light watering, which keeps plant roots at the surface and makes them vulnerable to drying out. Good, deep soaks will encourage plant roots to follow the water down and insulate them from heat.
  • Regular applications of Seasol, certified organic seaweed plant tonic suitable for all plants including natives, helps stimulate root development, and a healthy root system means a hardier plant, more resistant plant.
  • A foliar application of Seasol before and after a heat wave will also improve a plant’s recovery and tolerance to the next lot of hot weather.
  • If you have a veggie seedling, protecting them from the late summer sun will also go a long way to reducing their heat stress and letting them do what they do best, producing food.
