Have you ever wondered some of the toughest or most isolated growing environments often give rise to some of the most amazing plants? Mel shows us the wonderful world of weird and unusual plants that grow here in Australia.

  • The Queensland Bottle Tree is equipped to survive even the toughest conditions. The name is perfect, not only is the trunk shaped like a bottle, but the tree stores water in between the bark and the trunk.
  • If you’re after a plant that’s low maintenance, bold and architectural looking, then it’s hard to beat Agarves. They can survive in very harsh conditions while still looking great.
  • The Golden Barrel Cactus is another plant you can grow for it’s incredible form. The ribbed ball shape plants and yellow spines create real drama in the garden and look great planted in mass.
  • Kalanchoes are some of the prettiest succulents around, with cheery blooms right throughout the winter months. Available in many forms, Kalanchoes are perfect for brightening a spot up.
