They say gardening is in your blood and nowhere is that more true than at Fleming’s Nurseries, a family business that’s now in its fourth generation. Mel takes us on her visit to Fleming’s.
- Dandenong Ranges has a long history of tree growing and today it’s still the sight of Australia’s largest production nursery business. Fleming’s Nurseries have been growing quality fruit and ornamental trees for close to a century now.
- The business started with Eric Fleming in the 1920’s growing root stock for the famous Nebilious?? family. It wasn’t long before Eric started his own bare root nursery, growing fruit and later ornamental trees.
- During the 1980’s Eric’s son Don and his work Dawn took over the business and with sons Wes and Graham a new era was born and today the families passion for trees is alive and well with Wes Fleming and his family continuing the love of growing beautiful trees for Aussie gardens.
- With a heritage business like Fleming’s its probably not unusual to find people that have been working here for ages and are just like part of the family, so Mel introduces us to some fellow staff members at Fleming’s.
