One challenge we are getting asked about all the time here at The Garden Gurus is “what do I do with all my extra produce?” Well today our favourite chef Sophie Budd shows us a beautiful mostarda figs recipe.

What you need:

  • 5 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 cup white balsamic
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 kilo cut figs

Method:

  • Crush the mustard seeds in a pestle and mortar.
  • In a pot put the sugar, vinegar, water and bring to a simmer, add the crushed mustard seeds and both cinnamon.
  • Add the figs and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Pour in to preserved jars and leave for at least 1 month before eating.
