Title: Vegepod
Broadcast: November 3, 2018
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
If you’re looking at growing your own vegetables, but are worried about pests, the Vegepod will help you to keep your plants healthy.
- The Vegepod has a self-watering system in the base which wicks water back to the surface, reducing the amount of watering you have to do yourself. It also has a watering system that you can easily connect to a Holman Tap Timer and set to water once or twice a week.
- The environment is perfect for growing plants from seed. Make sure you have a quality potting mix laid out in the bed, such as Scotts Premium Potting. This mix has wetting agents and bio-stimulants in it, and will be extremely beneficial for your plants.
- The Vegepod is ideal for growing leafy greens, such as lettuce, or shiso. The leaf from this herb has been used by the Japanese and Koreans to wrap barbequed meat in – it has a delicious flavour, and is best grown during the summer months.
- The Vegepod’s white shade cloth cover protects the plant below from insects, such as the white cabbage moth. It also gently shades the plants below, protecting them from the extremes. The white cloth is fantastic as opposed to black as it refracts the light, spreading it more evenly over the plants below.
