Showpiece Roses
Story: Showpiece Roses
Episode: 17
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Air Date: 12th December 2020
Neville introduces us to an easy-care, disease-resistant, bush style rose that’s perfect for adding a bit of colour and class to your garden.
- Showpiece roses were created by the German rose breeder, Werner Noak, and his son, Reinhart.
- They have been introduced worldwide by Anthony Tesselaar Plants.
- Showpiece roses are highly fragrant and come in an assortment of colours.
- Their buds have the classic tail shape of hybrid tea roses. These open to a full English style bloom, which is glorious in the garden and a knockout in a vase.
- Showpiece roses are disease resistant and top of the class for fighting off black spot and mildew, so there’s no need to spray any chemicals.
- One trick to keep the flowers coming is to remove spent blooms by cutting the stems as you would if using as cut flowers.
- Showpiece roses will begin flowering in late spring and continue through to the first frosts or the middle of winter.
