Bonnie creates a mixed planter to help with cross-pollination in the garden and to create a safe haven for important critters to her backyards.

• When creating a mixed planter, choose at least 3 to 4 different plants together.
• Choosing a selection of plants that will flower at different stages of the year can help to ensure that there will be a long-lasting supply of pollen and nectar for bees.
• Brightly coloured flowers do well in pots and flower beds as bees tend to be more attracted to these tones.
• Lavender is a stable and classic pollinator attractor plant.
• Dreameria has a grass mounding growth habit and large globed flowers which act as a beacon for the pollinators.
• Limonium Perezii Blue is a great plant to attract pollinators to your garden and it is extremely long-lasting.
• To keep the planters thriving, position them in the garden where they will get plenty of sun and ideally near other edible crops to encourage cross-pollination. Water them once to twice a week during the spring, and then during the summer check them daily.
• Prune the spent flowers in the pot and feed with either a granular or soluble fertilise such as Troforte.
