Excessive waste is something that we should all try and eliminate. Bonnie shows us how easy it can be to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

  • There are three key R’s that can help eliminate excessive waste: reuse, reduce and recycle.
  • Reuse plastic pots to sow new season seeds, or to pot plants for further development. Once these pots are no longer useable, recycle them.
  • Use empty egg cartons as seed-raising trays. Once the seedling has grown you can tear off the section of the carton and plant it directly into the garden.
  • Save empty fertilizer containers, they make for great weeding buckets.
  • Don't throw food waste away, instead establish a compost heap or worm farm where those scraps can be given to. And over time, they will reward you by turning that green waste into rich compost or vermicompost for the garden.
  • Long tree branches can be reused in the garden to stake up plants that require support like vegetables, roses or even climbing plants.
