Michael shares another great lawn care tip focusing on overseeding and how to establish your lawn better!

• Overseeding during summer is not something you typically think about but it can be a great option for highly shaded areas.
• There are a number of great perennial Fescue and Ryegrass seed options available that are shade tolerant and winter acting.
• These can provide great coverage for tree lined areas that would struggle otherwise.
• Creating a good seed bed with a rake is very important and ensures that there is contact with the soil through germination.
• Providing the seeds with a light topdress after spreading will also help the seeds grow.
• The seeds will need to be well fed so keep it nourished with an application of well-balanced granular fertilizer a week after planting.
• Be sure to follow up a month later to ensure the plant thickens up and has the best chance of survival.
• Be sure to water a frequent watering regime in the first couple of weeks since the root system will be shallow throughout the establishment phase.
