Nigel and Darren team up to give a lovely garden a much needed, updated irrigation system.

• According to research, good landscaping can add up to 28% to your home’s overall value, so it’s key to do whatever it takes to keep it looking at its best.
• Conducting an inspection of your home watering system is an important practice for maximising water usage. Audits ensure that water is applied evenly to all areas of the lawn and determine how long a system should run.
• A flow test is an important step to figure out the average water flow. Remove any tap fittings from the tap, and turn the tap on full. Place the bucket under the tap and time - in seconds - how long it takes to fill completely.
• Flow rate (l/min) is [Bucket size (L)] / [Fill Time (seconds)] *60*0.8. Let’s say you filled your 9-litre bucket in 15 seconds. So according to our equation, we have (60 ÷ 15) x 9 = 36 Litres per minute. This will tell us what and how many stations and type of spray heads we need.
