Trevor stops by a UNESCO-recognised world heritage in the Singapore Botanic Garden.
- Established in 1859 as a British tropical garden, the Singapore Botanic Garden now encompasses 82 hectares of carefully curated flora and fauna, set amid historic features and buildings.
- It is also a world-class scientific institution, with the research done here revolutionising rubber cultivation in the 20th century. Today, its work focuses on conservation and orchid breeding.
- The garden’s historical significance earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 2015, Singapore’s first and only.
- The Healing Garden encompasses 2.5 hectares and contains over 400 different plant species that are all meant to provide medical health benefits. Separated into different sections for different parts of the human body, from head/neck, to respiratory systems and even reproductive systems.
- The general outdoor gardens is opened daily from 5am to 12am midnight, with free admission. Some of the attractions within the gardens have differing opening hours and admission charges.
