Aquaponics – Size doesn’t Matter
Title: Aquaponics – Size doesn’t Matter
Broadcast: 5th September 2015
Presenter: Calinda Anderson
Aquaponics is being adopted for commercially growing all types of vegetables and fish around the world, you can do it all yourself easily at home and on any scale.
- The size of your system will be dictated by how much room you have and how much food you want to grow.
- A pond measured 1.5 x 1.5m can hold 1,300 litres, when the system matures (which can take 6 months) and with extra filtration, you can grow up to 40 fish.
- For a system for a large family, you over hang the grow bed over the pond. Taking up 4m in length and 1.5m in width, you can grow a good amount of leafy greens like spinach, kale and lettuces; don’t worry about spacing, you can pack them in.
