Garden Features

  • Tom Hogg?s ?Romancing the Stone? garden is one of the most remarkable gardening stories around. It?s a story about a man, his love of his life and his fascination with rock work, which has created one of WA?s most spectacular large garden.
  • The three concepts of the garden are romance, fragrance and running water and over the last 10 years, Tom has incorporated these concepts to create a stunning terrace garden in the foothills of Perth.
  • The amazing thing is that Tom never drew plans for these gardens but simply conceptualized it all in his head.
  • The garden displays interest all year round, maintains a balance between open areas and intimate spaces and has an abundance of colour.
  • To build all the rock walls, Tom has carted over 2000 tonnes of stone over the last eight years.
  • Waterfalls gently cascade over five levels of fish ponds and running under a double arched stone bridge.
  • This garden has been open in the past for the Amanda Young Foundation and everyone who visits is blown away.
  • This year ?Romancing the Stone? is open to the public on 5th and 6th September so be sure to check it out.
