Coromandel Art and Produce

Episode: 6
Title: Coromandel Art and Produce
Broadcast: 27 September
Presenter: Trevor

The Coromandel Peninsular is a beautiful spot about two hours drive East of Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand. With its forest and beaches, it’s the perfect place for locals to relax and recharge. It’s also a must see for visitors as they flock here in the warmer months, many of them opting for a mobile home, giving them the flexibility to cruise around at their own pace and stop wherever they fancy. Trevor has taken his own mobile home to check out what all the fuss is about.

  • Amongst the amazing green hills is cheese! With their connection to the land and their understanding of the effects of the seasonal change, farmers are a great source of knowledge for gardeners. Kelvin Haigh is one of these farmers and cheese makers.
  • Along with cheese, is art. Mako Art Space showcases the work of some very talented local artists.
  • Along with cheese, and art, is wine of course! While regions further down south are the hub of the local wine industry, Coromandel holds its own, with the regular rainfall and costal conditions creating a very nice drop.
