Sue shares a few tips and tricks to help those who have smaller gardens ensure that their plants are getting sufficient water over the summer.
- There are several ways to prevent your plants from becoming water-stressed, including the use of soil improver, wetting agent and mulch.
- Before planting, submerge the pot in a wetting agent solution for about 10 minutes. This ensures that it’s through the whole root system and not just at the surface.
- Create a microclimate by bunching plants together and establishing a canopy that casts shade will reduce evaporation and keep your garden cool.
- Holman’s WX1 Wi-Fi Tap Timer with Hub will take the guesswork out of when to water and ensure that your plants stay looking fantastic.
- If your garden is small and you want to set up irrigation for only a few pots when you go away, then one tap timer will be enough.
- The hub is required for the tap timer to connect to Wi-Fi. One hub can take up to four tap timers.
- You can set up a watering schedule, track your water usage and use the rain delay via the Homan Home app.
- The tap timer has 3 different start patterns and a 7-day selection for watering schedules, which is important for areas that have set watering days.
