Episode: 2
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Air Date: 14 March 2026

Neville visits a unique Wanneroo garden and mini golf park to explore four decades of landscape design, water features and beautiful plantings.

  • More than 45 years ago, Dutch landscape architect Theo Puik created a distinctive botanic park and mini golf course, combining landscape design with recreation.
  • Water is a defining feature throughout the gardens, with waterfalls and winding streams providing a cooling atmosphere and a relaxing sensory experience for visitors.
  • The landscape incorporates striking capstone rock pinnacles, inspired by the iconic formations of Nambung National Park’s Pinnacles, which help frame and structure the garden design.
  • Similar rock themes can also be seen in other local landscapes, including Waldecks Garden Centre in Kingsley and the private garden of Barry Waldeck.
  • The gardens are now run by Theo’s daughter Nicole and her husband Paul Woodcock, who have expanded the site into a popular hospitality and entertainment venue for Perth’s northern suburbs.
  • Mature gardens of this age are relatively rare in Western Australia, showcasing the beauty that can develop through decades of careful planting and professional maintenance.
  • Seasonal highlights include colourful feature plants such as the striking red and orange blooms of the Siam Ruby frangipani, adding vibrant interest throughout the landscape.
