Fuchsias are a very rewarding plant to grow and they display their magnificent flowers prominently for a very long time and grow in a wide range of sheltered positions. Whilst the main flush of flowers is during early Summer, most Fuchsias will show off their magnificent flowers for most of the year.

Trailing and Lax varieties prefer wire baskets lined with coco fibre or tall or raised pots and tubs, as they have a low growing or trailing habit.

Lax Bush and Upright Bush varieties are suitable for baskets, pots and protected gardens as these have a more upright habit.

Fuchsias need a sheltered dappled shade position and shelter from damaging and drying winds. Use a premium free draining potting mix and keep the roots cool and drained. For best growth feed regularly and ensure plants never dry out, particularly in the warmer weather. Prune hard in August and tip prune in January, and always feed after pruning to encourage a flush of new growth.
