- Lawn seeds are a quick and cost-effective solution for rejuvenating your lawn. Scotts Thicken Seed & Feed is specifically formulated to enhance existing lawns by filling in bare patches and thickening sparse areas.
- This premium seed blend provides a lush green lawn all year round. It is designed to be drought and frost resilient, tolerant of both sun and shade, and capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic. The ideal times for sowing the seed are now in spring and during late summer.
- Preparation Steps:
- Scarifying: Begin by scarifying the lawn to chop up weeds and open up the soil, creating a better environment for the seeds to take root.
- Mowing: Mow the area low to remove any debris and expose the soil surface, which enhances seed-to-soil contact for improved germination.
- Once the area is prepared, evenly spread the seed mix over the bare patches. For larger areas, a broadcast spreader works well; for smaller spots, hand-sowing is perfectly effective. Ensure that the seeds are distributed evenly for consistent growth.
- After sowing, water the area thoroughly. The seed mix already includes a controlled release fertiliser, which supports germination and early growth. It’s vital to keep the soil consistently moist throughout the first few weeks to encourage strong establishment of the new grass.
- Once the grass begins to grow, continue to monitor the moisture levels, especially during dry spells. Regular mowing and appropriate feeding will help maintain a healthy, lush lawn as it develops.
