  • There are over 89 species of Heliconia recognized, with more than 350 varieties in total and 98 percent native to tropical America.
  • Heliconia are close relatives of ginger, bananas, birds-of-paradise and traveller′s palm.
  • Heliconia typically thrice in well-drained soil that is very rich in decaying organic matter, which the Heliconia derive their nutrients from.
