  • The garden acts as a fantastic learning tool for science – with students experiencing an outdoors, hands on approach
  • All year groups and classes get involved
  • There is a ‘class of the week' system where students manage all aspects of the garden
  • Organic waste from lunch time gets put into the compost and worm farms
  • The students learn about biodiversity through exposure to heritage chicken varieties
  • The chickens produce about two dozen eggs a week of all different varieties and are used in the school kitchen  
  • The aquaponics system teaches the students about the relationship between plants, bacteria and fish
