It can be really hard to diagnose what it is that causes dead patches in the lawn.

Sometimes it is a simple matter of wear and tear. If so it might be an idea to put a path or some paving in that worn area.

At other times, usually in the warmer months, dead sections are caused by insects such as the fat curl grubs that eat the roots of the grass.

Curls grubs have light-coloured bodies with darker-coloured heads. They stay underground eating grass roots, and then eventually turn into beetles that fly around looking for another tasty lawn where they can lay their eggs.

If you have had this problem in the past there is now an easy way to protect your lawn right through spring, summer and autumn. It is called Confidor Hose-On.

Confidor Hose on comes with a click-on container that is very easy to apply. Just attach the hose, turn on, make sure the holes are punctured in the top and turn on the water.

Confidor gets right inside the grass plants and lasts for the whole season, right through to autumn. When the grubs eat the roots they get a dose of Confidor and they are gone. The good news is that Confidor won?t harm earthworms or birds that might eat the dead grubs.

Another time you will end up with holes in your lawn is when you spray weeds. Buffalo lawns, especially, are easily damaged, so make sure what you use is okay for buffalo.

Whatever might have caused them, a great idea for fixing holes in the lawn is the Lawn Patch pack. Then stand back and wait for the new grass to grow.
