Rainwater Tanks
Episode: 2
Title: Rainwater Tanks
Broadcast: 12th September 2015
Presenter: Steve Wood
A rainwater tank plumbed into your home will save you water.
- To be effective, rainwater tanks need to be plumbed into the laundry and toilet so that water is used indoors during the wetter months of the year.
- A larger tank (at least 4,000 liter capacity) is required to help with garden watering in the early summer months.
- A small rainwater tank plumbed into your laundry can save around 20,000 liters of water in a year, a larger tank can save even more.
- By connecting the tank to an efficient watering system that incorporates pressure compensating drippers and MP rotators you can be confident that every drop you have collected will be used wisely.
- If you’re building a new home, you might like to consider an underground storage system which are available through your local hardware store and are ideal for smaller properties.
