Everyone loves the idea of eating homegrown, fresh veggies and herbs! Bonnie shares her secrets to make this dream a reality.
- Taking the time to prepare the soil and the area for your plants is a vital step to having a productive garden filled with produce.
- There are several ways to remove weeds from the garden, but one thing you do not want to do when your planting edibles is to use a weed spray.
- It’s better off hand-picking weeds out or using a hand weeder. Hand weeders will save you time and make weeding a lot easier.
- Once the weeds have been cleared, focus on getting the soil nice and aerated.
- A cultivator is the best way to aerate soil; it will help break up any clumps that might have otherwise restricted future root growth and root penetration into the soil.
- When cultivating the soil, try your best to turn over the top 8-10inches of soil, which is roughly 20-30cm deep.
- Sprinkle the seeds along evenly, if you want to get the spacing spot on use a seed sowing tool.
- The WOLF-Garten Multi-Star interchangeable handles and tools are recommended for weeding and planting as they make getting these garden tasks done a lot easier and quicker.
