Grow your own fresh, delicious flavours at home with easy-to-care-for herb and vegetable combos in stylish pots from Waldecks—perfect for adding a gourmet touch to your meals!
- Start by selecting stylish pots to showcase your herbs, ideally two of each so you can rotate them in and out of the house for fresh weekly picks. Waldecks, a renowned multigenerational garden centre in WA, offers a wide variety of beautifully designed and engineered pots perfect for any herb garden.
- For a great start, use high-quality starter pots from Swan Valley Nursery, including the popular Renaissance collection. These plants are available at leading garden centres nationwide and come in themed selections, making it easier to choose what will thrive in your garden.
- Remember, your herbs are hungry plants that need plenty of nutrients to thrive, so using a good liquid fertiliser is key. Apply concentrated fertiliser every week or two, watering over the foliage to support healthy, ongoing growth.
- A good quality potting mix is essential for the best start and sustained health of your plants. Look for mixes with the red ticks to ensure they are premium quality and provide the right balance of nutrients and drainage.
- For an Asian-inspired combo, plant Mizuna, Japanese red spinach, perennial coriander, and Tokyo turnips in a single pot. These plants thrive together in pots and add delicious flavours to soups and salads, all with minimal space needed.
- Create a gourmet herb garden with parsley, onion chives, slow-bolt coriander, mint, oregano, and thyme. Plant them around the edges of a pot so they spill over, keeping the plants trimmed for a natural fringe effect while providing fresh ingredients for Mediterranean dishes.
- For a summer-ready garden, plant basil (red, sweet, cinnamon, and lemon varieties) around a central red Russian tomato. As you harvest the tomatoes, pick fresh basil leaves to create a flavour-packed dish with burrata cheese or mozzarella.
