If you find yourself in Northern Ireland between April and November, you must add this attraction to your itinerary. Glenarm Castle is one of Irelands oldest walled gardens and is truly amazing.

• Back when the Castel was built in 1260 the walled garden was necessary because it provided the garden with security to grow fresh fruit and vegetables. The wall was about protecting the value of the plants from invaders and the environment around them.
• The only remaining productive food supply is the kitchen garden, which still provides the family with organic fruit, veggies and herbs.
• The garden has a Hot Border. It is described as such because they’ve used reds, orange and yellow flowering plants and there are some absolute stunners that grow beautifully in Australian garden conditions like Dahlias
• Glenarm Garden is only ornamental today, but the garden is still overflowing with fruits such as apples, quince, pear and a wide variety of vegetables.
