Native Plant Care

  • Many native plants—such as Grevilleas, Banksias, Macadamias, Waratahsand Hakeas—belong to the Protea family, which is highly sensitive to phosphorus. Over-fertilising can do more harm than good, so a balanced and cautious approach is essential.
  • To protect young roots, don’t add fertiliser directly into the planting hole. This prevents root burn and allows the plant to settle without stress.
  • Troforte tablets are a breakthrough in native plant nutrition. Formulated specifically for phosphorus-sensitive plants, they provide a complete, balanced range of nutrients, including low but safe levels of phosphorus. They also contain beneficial microbes that work with the soil for improved nutrient uptake.
  • Push the tablets into the soil, not on top. Surface placement can expose the microbes to heat and dryness, reducing their effectiveness.
  • Water in well to activate the microbial activity and ensure nutrient release.
  • Each tablet offers up to 8 months of controlled release feeding.
  • Although perfect for Australian natives, Troforte tablets are ideal for all garden plants—even exotics like avocados and water lilies. Just adjust the number of tablets to suit the plant size and type.
