Episode: 1
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Air Date: 5th August
Trevor visit the plant market, a horticulturalist’s dream, with unique and stunning, collectible plants for any household.
- Many are used to the Monstera plant in their own homes, but fewer are as familiar with the Bird of Paradise variant, a much larger, upright plant that is used to semi-shade or shade positions and is almost indestructible.
- If you’re looking for arty plants like Trevor, you may look at air plants. A tillandsia, or air plant, has the remarkable capability of drawing moisture from the air to sustain themselves. But don’t fall into the trap of not watering them, a light mist twice a week will do them good.
- Another huge trend now is terrariums. Perfect for indoor offices, desks, bathrooms etc. Fitted within glass bowls, terrariums prefer small, potentially mossy or moisture hungry plants like Fittonias.
- Some easy answers to your indoor needs are Devil’s Ivy, the ultimate bathroom plant that grows in a glass of water of as an awesome handling basket, Monstera for indoor low-light corners, and Syngoniums, with plenty of coloured foliage options for your office desks.
